Last week when I was making the tiramisu cake when I lost my beaters. You know, the beaters for my hand mixer. I spent close to half an hour searching the entire kitchen, resisting the urge to look through the rest of the house for them. Don’t ask me why I was compelled to search my bedroom for hand mixer beaters, but when you feel like you’ve looked in every logical place on the planet your mind suddenly jumps to the illogical ones.
I know I got to a point where I forgot what the heck I was doing in the recipe and finally rechecked the book. The next step was to whip up some cream to make the filling and frosting for the cake…ah-ha! That’s when the light bulb went off.
You see, I had washed the beaters after using them to mix the cake batter. They were hot from the water, and being the good baker I am (HA!) I knew I had to cool them down to properly whip my cream into submission. I put them in the freezer! The lesson is, always know where your beaters are, or at least make a note to self as to where you put them to cool off. In my case this was on top of my Mom’s popsicles, next to the tortellini.

That happens to me, too. i forget where I put something in the kitchen to only find them when I don’t need them.
Popped over from Amanda’s to say hi!
Lol I do stuff like that ALL the time! Once my mom couldn’t find a book she was reading..it was in the freezer! still don’t know how she did that:)
Funny! Glad you found ‘em!
That is TOTALLY something I would do LOL. At least you found them!!
Jenn,
I’ve actually been pretty lucky in the kitchen about losing things. It doesn’t happen often, and when it does I usually find it within five minutes. This is the first time I had a real search in the kitchen. When it comes to everything else, then I’m like an Alzheimer’s patient. I lose keys, garage door openers, bras….did I just say that?
Blond Duck,
Thanks for stopping by! Love your site by the way!
Paula,
As far as your Mom goes, maybe she got a craving for ice cream while reading and needed two hands to get it out of the freezer…yeah, that sounds good.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who suffers from brain fart disease
Pamela,
So am I. I need that mixer!
Steph,
Again, it’s good to know there’s so many kindred spirits out there
